Timber Rattlesnake Biology & Conservation
July 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm
FREEWe hope you’ll join us to learn about Timber Rattlesnakes with Wellsboro herpetologist Stan Boder! Stan is a Senior Herpetologist with EnviroScience, Inc. and has conducted more than 20 years of field studies of amphibians and reptiles in Pennsylvania and beyond, with a special focus on Timber Rattlesnakes.
Stan will share his knowledge of the biology, habitat, life history and conservation of these fascinating snakes that are are so iconic of the wild character of our region of northcentral PA. Timber rattlesnakes are sensitive and ecologically important animals, and health and survival of their populations in Pennsylvania depends a great deal on efforts of people to protect and conserve them.
For any pre-K or elementary school-aged children interested in learning more about herpetology – the study of reptiles and amphibians like snakes, frogs, turtles, and salamanders – we will also present several hands-on activities prior Mr. Boder’s presentation.
2:00 pm: Hands-on activities for pre-K and school-aged children
