Dickens Hat Workshop

$25The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to offer an 1843 Bonnet Making Workshop with renowned milliner Christine Moore. This class will take your Dickens costume to the next level with an authentic Victorian era hat design! The class will be held from 12:00 PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, November 24th. The cost per student is $25 and most materials will be provided, including: a premade buckram understructure, millinery wire and clamps, pre-made lining, needles and pins, white, black, red, navy, brown thread. Participants will pick the shape they prefer to make from Christine’s 2 bonnet sketches above. Students must bring their own scissors, at least 1 yard of fabric in the color they choose to cover the buckram structure, thread that matches their fabric choice, and any ribbon or trim they would like to use on their bonnet. Christine will provide hands-on instruction and assistance. Students should leave the class with a completed bonnet.
