Cross Fork Fishing Derby
May 25 at 10:00 am
A Memorial Day Weekend tradition will continue on Saturday, May 25, in the village of Cross Fork. The Kids’ Fishing Derby, a project of the Cross Fork Sportsmen, has filled the banks along Kettle Creek by the bridge in the middle of town with smiling children since 1970.
Upwards of 200 young anglers usually attend to cast their offerings into the fishing zone.
It’s complimented by a chicken barbecue nearby at the Kettle Creek Hose Company and fundraisers to support the 70-year-old sportsmen’s club and keep the fishing derby tradition alive.
Fishing is open to kids age 12 or younger. Registration opens at 9AM and fishing starts at 10AM.
Every participate will receive a prize. Grand prizes will be awarded at 2PM for the largest brown, golden, brook and rainbow trout.
