Kayaking 101
July 3, 2023 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
FREEKayaking seems so easy. Well – it is, but there’s more to it. This hands-on skills-based class will review basic to in-depth information you should know to get the most out of kayaking and do so safely and efficiently.
After an introductory on-land session, take to the water and hone your ability to maneuver your kayak and paddle with confidence. Learn the basics, or take your skills to the next level.
After lunch, a challenge by choice option will be available for those interested in practicing self-rescue on the water. (or assisted rescue)
Register by July 2 by calling 570-724-4246. Spaces are very limited so that those attending can get the most out of the experience. This course is designed for adults, but open to ages 12 and up. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (on site if not on the water)
You are welcome to bring your own kayak, but limited kayaks are available for this program at no cost. Ask when registering. PFDs are available as well (and required at all times on the water).
Bring a lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, clothing that can get wet, hat, sunglasses, glasses straps, and your enthusiasm to learn more about kayaking.
If you are unable to attend this program but have interest in a future class, let us know!
