Through Our Telescopes: From Saturn to Stars
August 12, 2023 at 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm
FREEThe Perseid Meteor Shower peaks this weekend! While meteors are best viewed after midnight with the naked eye, look through park telescopes while you wait for midnight to fall.
Under the guidance of our volunteers and staff, embark on an amazing telescope tour of the night sky. We’re focusing on Saturn, double stars, and possibly a nebula or two.
No pre-registration required. Telescopes available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the time listed. Availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability, weather conditions, and crowd size limitations.
Note that this is a very popular time to visit the park. The lines for telescopes will likely be long. Please remember to line up in an organized way, and wait for your turn instead of cutting the line/jumping the queue.

Park programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket
All programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder.
Telescopes will not be available in the event of significant cloud-cover.
We ask that all visitors please leave pets at home. Dim lighting, large crowds and sensitive equipment do not create a pet-friendly environment.
Check the Clear Sky Chart or Astrospheric for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions.
